Does CBD Cream Get Into Bloodstream?

If you are using a topical, like a cream or salve then the answer is no. The CBD gets absorbed into the skin but it does not enter the bloodstream. The ability for a product to enter the bloodstream is called bioavailability. CBD in any externally applied product does not have bioavailability, and therefore does not enter the bloodstream.

Instead, CBD uses the cannabinoid receptors in the skin (and other places all over the body) that are part of the endocannabinoid system to target problem areas.

Of course if you take cbd orally with one of our tinctures or our gummies then the cbd will enter the bloodstream.

What is the endocannabinoid system (ECS)

All mammals, including humans, have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex molecular system that controls a number of physiological functions such as appetite, mood, pain perception, and sleep. Endocannabinoids, which are organic substances created by the body, and their receptors, which are located on the surface of cells all over the body, make up the ECS. Endocannabinoids can change cellular activity and have an impact on physiological processes when they bind to their receptors and initiate a number of signaling pathways. It is believed that the endocannabinoid system contributes to the body’s ability to maintain homeostasis by regulating and balancing a number of physiological systems.
