Four ingredients that quietly disqualify most “plant-based” gummies
- Gelatin – animal collagen. The most common one, and the easiest to spot.
- Beeswax – a frequent anti-stick coating. We use carnauba, from palm leaves.
- Carmine (cochineal) – red coloring made from crushed insects, often hidden inside “natural colors.”
- Shellac / confectioner’s glaze – secreted by lac insects.
If a red gummy lists “natural colors” and the brand won’t tell you which, assume you need to ask before you buy.
